Mayò 637: the homemade wooden sailkit

Nicola Pirani had an idea: build a wooden boat and then make it available on the market as a kit! A project that immediately liked to Armare Ropes that has supply the running rigging for the boat.

The experienced sailor Nicola Pirani, from Ferrara in Italy, has chosen a small size for building his Mayo 637, cooperating with Paolo Brua for the design. The boat that results is truly amazing, cheap … and you can build it in a box!

Mayò can be built using about 400 hours of work and an area of about forty square meters, with sailor-average hobbyist equipment. To fix the mast just two people, and also for the launch does not need a crane, but just a slide. Once built, thanks to the steering removable bayonet and lifting keel, the boat can be transported on a cart.
