Tornado: the new Furling range by Armare Ropes

Armare Ropes presents a new range of ropes included in the “Furling line”, specifically developed for use in closed circuits furling lines of the different bow sails.

The new Furling line by Armare Ropes  includes 4 different type of ropes, made of a core in Dyneema® SK78, HMPE or Polyester coupled with covers in various mixes of technical fibers. Each rope has different specifications and intended use depending on the type of boat and system on which it is to be used. The four types of products meet the different needs of use on a wide range of boats, from mini to cruiser-racer, up to maxi racing and the expectations of the crews who will use them.

The four Tornado ropes are differ in the cores (in Polyester for the Tornado 1, in HMPE for the Tornado 2, in Dyneema® SK78 for the Tornado 3 and with the addition of resin for the Tornado 4) and the mix of fibers of the covers (Vectran® / PET for Tornado 1 – 2 – 3 and Black Technora® / PET for Tornado 4).

The special mix of gripping fibers of the covers, such as Vectran® and Black Technora®, make these ropes extremely performing, both when used by hand and on winches. Furthermore the mix with PET allows for easy differentiation and identification of maneuvers.

The different cores determine the type of use these lines are intended for. For example Tornado 1, with a fairly elongated PET core, is suitable for small and medium-sized boats, where the furling is done by hand. Tornado 4, instead, it is the most suitable for a maxi, both racing and cruising, which needs to furl even with high loads. Furthermore, on a maxi, the use of Black Technora® makes it possible to withstand the high peak temperatures due to the friction on the drums without affecting the condition of the cover.

The whole new range of Furling ropes is already available for purchase from our distributors riggers and authorized dealers.

The products are also available on the Armare Store.
